ICE 3neo interior design unveiled

ICE 3neo interior Deutsche Bahn has unveiled the ICE 3neo interior with completely newly developed seats which are designed as a personal retreat, offer better adjustment options and therefore even more comfort. At Frankfurt Central Station, DB and Siemens celebrated the premiere train on its first passenger trip to Cologne, three months earlier than originally planned.

The design is an “icon and the flagship of the long-distance transport fleet. Everyone knows the train with the red stripe. Now, with the new interior design of the trains, we are also raising travel comfort in long-distance transport to a new level. With newly developed seats, more privacy and a modern material and color concept, we are bringing a living room feeling to the rails at 300 km/h for our passengers,” Michael Peterson, DB board member for long-distance passenger transport said.

A harmonious design, modern materials such as wood decor and covers made of high-quality fabric with 85 percent wool content in nuanced colors determine the new appearance. The seat covers are warm gray tones in 1st class, blue tones in 2nd class and burgundy red in the on-board restaurant. Elements such as an integrated tablet holder or coat hooks in each backrest offer more functionality. The DB is therefore continuing to work consistently on its strategy to renew the train fleet and improve travel comfort.

With the launch of the new ICE 3neo interior design, DB passengers can now experience the new design language of long-distance transport throughout, from the new DB travel centres to the new DB lounges to the ICE 3neo, the flagship of the long-distance transport fleet.

A further 73 trains with the new interior design will follow by 2028. At the same time, the ICE 3neo has impressed passengers with its high level of reliability and popularity since the first train in daily operation.

“We delivered the first trains of the ICE 3neo fleet at record speed andnow we are increasing the pace further.

From November onwards, a complete 8-car ICE 3neo will roll out of our factory in Krefeld every 16 days. With a total of 90 trains, we are supplying a large part of the new capacity for DB long-distance transport. With state-of-the-art technology and a new design, we will significantly rejuvenate the ICE fleet,” Michael Peter, CEO Siemens Mobility said.

The ICE 3neo will not be the only train type with the new interior design. At the end of 2024, DB will receive the first of 79 ICE Ls ordered with stepless entry. Here the new design is implemented from the first move. The new ICE 3neo and ICE L will reduce the average age of ICE and Intercity trains from 18 today to 12 years by 2030.
